WHITE PINE

White Pine is a town in Hamblen and Jefferson counties in the U.S. state of Tennessee. It is part of the Morristown, Tennessee Metropolitan Statistical Area. The population was 1,997 at the 2000 census.

It is located off Interstate 81 which is one of the busiest stretches of Interstate in the entire country.  White Pine is also the location of the southeastern distribution center for Old Dominion Freight, which has over 247 dock locations.

Incorporated in 1901, the town is today home of the Smoky Mountain Expo Center, a 6,000 seat arena managed by Walters State Community College.  The town sits far enough away from the busy interstate to still keep its small town feel, but close enough to allow visitors easy access to the many attractions of the area.  Knoxville, Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are all within 45 minutes of White Pine.

White Pine was once known as "Dandridge Crossing".  It is flanked by the French Broad River on the south and Long Creek on the north.  It is a family oriented community that puts great emphasis on their children.  The town provides recreational facilities that include a football field, soccer field, softball field, basketball court and 2 little league baseball fields.
